Gallery – Beach Shackin

It only took six weeks to complete this gorgeous little beach shack granny flat for Anne in Labrador on the Gold Coast QLD.

Beach Shackin' has been built so Anne can stay close to daughter Danielle. It was custom designed to suit a block limited on available space.

Anne is such a fun and vibrant soul and had no intention of going into an aged care facility in the future. Now she's able to retain her freedom and connection to family.

The Shack was designed in the same style as daughter Danielle’s original 1950s beach house.

We especially love the feature yellow and white striped awning which finishes the Shack off perfectly while adding necessary shade from the afternoon sun.

An existing deck now connects the two homes creating a great social space for family to come together. Meanwhile a smaller north facing deck off the bedroom provides a more private space for moments of relaxation.

The interior has been designed with Anne’s specific needs in mind.

We included an open plan kitchen/living room with high ceilings and windows to let natural sunlight in from the north. A large bedroom with built in robe storage, large entryways, doorways and bathroom, with a wheelchair accessible shower, feature wall mounted timber vanity and shavers cabinet for lots of storage.

There’s also a large laundry/storage cupboard with heaps of additional storage for Anne’s precious items.

High ceilings throughout with ceiling fans and air conditioning creates a comfortable environment for our hot summer.

To make access super easy for Anne we focused on designing/installing drawers everywhere over cupboards throughout the kitchen, bathroom and laundry.
