Traditional home loans are available for new granny flats, provided they are traditional on-site builds. Your bank should be happy to pay the scheduled construction payments, so you don't have to worry about not paying your builder on time.

Seniors Finance Available
Retirees may be eligible for Equity Release with Australian Seniors Advantage Group (A.S.A.G.). It's an alternative way to finance a new build for those who don't have a regular income.

First Home Buyers Grants
Depending on your location and situation, there may be a government grant to help kickstart your first home build.
The Queensland Government recently doubled its First Home Buyer Grant scheme to help tackle the cost of living crisis. The previous $15,000 grant was increased to $30,000, which you can also use to build a granny flat. It must be on a relative's property, and the increase expires July 1, 2025 - so get in quick.
Other Australian states may also offer their own grant schemes. We suggest booking a meeting with your chosen finance expert to check what you are eligible for.
